Your privacy is important to us

This privacy policy applies to visitors to and all online market and opinion surveys undertaken by Visioncare Research Ltd (VCR).

    1. VCR promises to protect your privacy and ensure that all information you give us is treated as confidential.
    2. VCR will only use information that you give us for research purposes.
    3. VCR will not release your personal information to any third party without your prior consent.
    4. VCR will never try to sell you anything nor will we ever sell your personal data to any other person/organization.
    5. VCR will respect your decisions about participating in a study, responding to questions, or discontinuing participation without prejudice.

Research Participation

Participation in market, survey and opinion research serves a crucial role in delivering society with products and services of the highest standard.  Not only will your opinions help companies to develop new and improve existing products, they contribute an important function in the advancement of industry-wide customer service.

When you participate in research conducted by VR, you can be assured that we will protect your privacy and will never misrepresent ourselves or our objectives.

VCR has established rigorous standards of privacy that have been developed in adherence to the professional standards set through the codes of conduct and guidelines of the MRS (Market Research Society) and ESOMAR (European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research).

Online surveys

1.   The information that we collect

When VCR conducts online research, our invitations and questionnaires are clearly identifiable, the purpose(s) of the contact is explained and you have already consented to being contacted by us.

Any contact will be for one of the following purposes:

    1. To invite you to participate in research;
    2. To conduct a research interview with you;
    3. To validate answers you gave during a recent survey;
    4. To ask permission to use your personal information for a purpose that was not explained to you when your personal information was first collected.

During the course of our research, we may ask you for your personal opinions, as well as, demographic information, such as your age or sex.  You are entitled to refuse answering certain questions or withdraw your participation at any time.

In research that involves children (participants under the age of 16), before any contact is made, we will seek the verifiable permission of a parent, legal guardian or other person legally responsible for the child.

2.   Confidentiality of survey responses and personal information

All of the responses that you provide to us in a given survey are combined with those of all the other participants and a report is produced for the client that commissioned the study.  We will never intentionally report your individual survey responses in a way that identifies you as an individual.

Your survey responses may be collected, stored or processed by our affiliated companies or non-affiliated service providers, both within and outside the UK.  They are contractually bound to keep any information they collect and disclose to us or we collect and disclose to them confidential and must protect it with security standards and practices that are equivalent to our own.  At VCR, we have made it our policy not to store personal information of participants any longer than is necessarily required to complete a given study.

In addition to keeping your survey responses confidential, we will never sell, share, rent or otherwise intentionally transfer your personal details (name, address, telephone number or e‑mail addresses) to our clients, market research companies, direct marketing companies or anyone else.

The only exceptions when we may disclose your personal information or survey responses to third parties are as follows:

    1. You consent to sharing your personal information and survey responses with the third parties for a specified purpose;
    2. In the rare but possible circumstance that the information is subject to disclosure pursuant to judicial or other government subpoenas, warrants, orders or for similar legal or regulatory requirements.

VCR will never ask you for your Bank Account details or Debit/Credit Card information.  Any remuneration offered to participants will be through means of cash or redeemable gift vouchers.

3.   Security of personal information

VCR informs our employees about our policies and procedures regarding confidentiality, security and privacy, and all employees with access to personal information have signed a detailed Confidentiality Agreement in advance.  Our security procedures are consistent with generally accepted commercial standards used to protect personal information.

4.  Accuracy of personal information

VCR makes reasonable efforts to maintain accurate, complete, current and relevant personal information that is in our possession or control.  This is reliant on your help to keep personal information accurate, complete and current by answering our questions honestly.

5.   Access to personal information

As a participant of a VCR study, you are entitled to access any information that we hold about you.  In order for you to receive access, we require that you submit a written request to the listed VCR e‑mail address or postal address (in How to contact us).  You may be able to access your personal information and correct, amend or delete it where you consider it necessary, except as follows:

    1. Providing access to your personal information would likely reveal personal information about others;
    2. Disclosing the information would reveal the confidential commercial information of VCR or its clients;
    3. The burden or expense of providing access would be disproportionate to the risks to your privacy in the case in question.

VCR website and online surveys

1.   Use of cookies, log files and other technologies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer by a website that assigns a numerical user ID and stores certain information about your online browsing.

VCR does not store any personal information on any cookies on our online surveys or on the VCR website.

VCR does not engage in passive data collection that identifies individuals.  All log data collected is aggregated and used only for the analytic purpose of examining the use of the website.

In the event that we discover or learn of any unethical conduct with the use of the technology, or that the technology is being used in a manner that is inconsistent with our policies or, in violation of applicable laws and codes, we will take immediate action to prohibit such unethical conduct ensuring the proper administration of the technology.

2.   Links to other websites

The VCR website contains links to other websites.  Whilst we make reasonable efforts to ensure that the websites linked to are trustworthy and reputable, we do not exercise control over third party websites.  These other websites may have differing privacy policies and collect their own information about you.  We therefore encourage you to read the privacy policies or statements of the other websites that you visit.


1.   Notification of material changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy or our policy practices, we will post a prominent notice on our website for 30 calendar days prior to the implementation of the change along with a description of how individuals may exercise any relevant choice.

2.  Printed copies of this privacy policy

If printed, the privacy policy can only be considered to be valid on the day of printing.

We will investigate all complaints and attempt to resolve those that we find to be justified.  If necessary, we will subsequently amend our policies and procedures to ensure that the problem is not experienced again.
